The artist behind the paint.

Rebecca Mclean studied contemporary fine art at Forth Valley College, graduating in 2014.

After winning the Princes Trust business funding award, in 2015, Rebecca established a studio gallery close to her home village of Fintry, Stirlingshire, Scotland, where she displays her own and other local artists work.

“I am a Scottish painter working primarily in oils and watercolours, with a focus on seascapes and wildflowers. The rugged coastlines and ever-changing skies of Scotland inspire much of my oil painting, where I try to capture both the drama and serenity of the sea. In contrast, my watercolour paintings explore the gentler beauty of wildflowers, celebrating their colour, fragility, and the sense of calm they bring.

Alongside my original paintings, I also enjoy finding ways to bring art into everyday life. Using high quality prints of my work, I create a range of homeware items including lampshades, cushions, and chopping boards. These pieces allow my paintings to live beyond the wall and become part of the spaces people use and enjoy daily.

At the heart of my practice is a simple aim: to create artwork that makes people feel happy and uplifted. I want my pieces to brighten a room, spark a memory of nature, or simply bring a smile.

For me, painting is not only a way of expressing my love of the natural world but also a way of sharing it. Whether through the movement of the sea in oil, the delicate petals of a wildflower in watercolour, or the warm glow of a lampshade, I hope my work connects people to nature and enriches their everyday surroundings with colour, light, and a sense of joy.”
